Product detailed description

Main characteristics
Fimanet ASA is the ideal choice for all applications that will be exposed to direct sunlight and adverse weather conditions. Unlike ABS, which yellows and becomes brittle in the sun, ASA contains an acrylic component that gives it extreme resistance to UV radiation. It is a robust material with a high gloss (if not otherwise treated) and excellent impact resistance.
Key features
• High resistance to UV radiation and weathering: The material retains its color and mechanical integrity even after years of outdoor use.
• High thermal resistance: Prints remain stable up to a temperature of approximately 95 °C, making it a material suitable for demanding technical parts.
• Excellent impact resistance: Parts are strong and impact-resistant, similar to ABS.
• Possibility of chemical smoothing: The surface of the print can be smoothed with acetone vapors to achieve a perfectly smooth, mirror-like surface.
• High aesthetic quality: Offers rich colors and excellent details.
Technical parameters and printing recommendations
ASA is a more demanding material to print due to heat shrinkage, therefore it requires a stable environment.
Parameter
Recommended value
Nozzle temperature
240 - 260 °C
Bed temperature
90 - 110 °C
Print speed
30 - 60 mm/s
Enclosed chamber
Highly recommended (prevents cracking and warping)
Cooling fan
0 - 20% (minimize for better layer cohesion)
Application examples
• Exterior elements: Garden equipment parts, outdoor sensor covers, mailboxes.
• Automotive industry: Exterior rear-view mirrors, radiator grilles, logos and lettering on cars.
• Construction: Solar panel brackets, holders and components.
• Sports & Leisure: Boat parts, outdoor equipment.
Tips for working with Fimanet ASA
1. Temperature control: When printing ASA, it is crucial to maintain a constant temperature around the model. Even a slight draft can cause delamination (spacing) of layers or lifting of corners from the base.
2. Adhesion: Use a quality adhesive for technical materials (e.g. Dimafix or 3DLac) or "ABS/ASA juice" (filament residue dissolved in acetone).
3. Fumes: A slight odor (styrene) is released during printing, so we recommend placing the printer in a ventilated room or using filtration.
