Product detailed description

PA6-CF15 is a technical composite based on Nylon 6, to which 15% chopped carbon fibers are added. This combination creates a material with exceptional mechanical integrity. Compared to classic nylon, PA6-CF15 is significantly stiffer, stronger in tension and has significantly lower shrinkage upon cooling, which makes it an ideal choice for the production of real mechanical components.
Key features
• Excellent strength-to-weight ratio: An ideal replacement for aluminum or plastic parts manufactured by injection molding.
• High thermal resistance: Withstands temperatures up to 160 - 180 °C for short periods, stable over 120 °C for long periods.
• High chemical resistance: The nylon base provides excellent resistance to fuels, oils, lubricants and common solvents.
• Low friction and abrasion resistance: Excellent for moving parts, bearings and bushings.
• Reduced warping: Carbon fibers stabilize the material, minimizing corner warping even when printing larger objects without the need for a heated chamber (although it is recommended).
Recommended print settings
• Nozzle temperature: 260 - 290 °C.
• Bed temperature: 80 - 100 °C.
• Required equipment: Hardened steel nozzle. 15% carbon acts like sandpaper on the brass nozzle and will degrade it after a few grams of printing.
• Object cooling: Off or minimal (0 - 20%) for maximum layer strength.

Suitable applications
1. Functional mechanical parts: Gears, levers, hinges and brackets.
2. Engine compartments: Intake manifolds, engine covers and heat shields.
3. Sports equipment: Components for bicycles, drones or outdoor equipment where low temperature toughness is required.
Key storage note: PA6-CF15 is extremely hygroscopic. Even a small amount of moisture will cause poor surface quality and brittle layer joints. The material must be dried before each print (80 °C for 6–12 hours) and must be enclosed in an active drying box during printing.
